Carlos Gerke S. is based in La Paz, Bolivia. After obtaining his law degree with the distinction Summa Cum Laude, he studied international and comparative law at Cornell Law School – Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbone, and obtained his LL.M. at Tulane University.

His successful experience in corporate law, debt structuring, international transactions, antitrust law, constitutional law and commercial litigation, positioned him as a leading legal advisor in Bolivia.

Currently he advises top ten private sector companies in the planning, structuring and protection of key projects and interests. Mr. Gerke´s practice is focused on natural resources and basic utilities services.

He previously taught Constitutional and Corporate Law at the Bolivian Catholic University where he is currently teaching Comparative Constitutional Law, Corporate Governance Practices, and Securities and Financial Law. He was appointed Chief of Staff of the Bolivian Ombudsman (2000 – 2001).
